Why I built this.

I'm Richard, and I created AirLoom. My parents had a stack of old VHS tapes and 8mm film in their loft — memories of Christmases, birthdays and summer holidays which meant the world to them, but which were slowly degrading in a cardboard box. They wanted a simple way to capture these old analogue sources, restore them, and save them as smooth, high-quality modern videos with just a couple of clicks.

The app that would do all this for them… well, it didn't exist, so I set out to build one.

It started as a simple text script, thoughtfully combining some of the best video restoration algorithms I'd used in my job over the years. It worked, and soon their friends were asking me to digitise their old home movies too.

Pretty quickly, this evolved into AirLoom — an honest home video restoration app that keeps your precious memories private (no pointless uploads for AI processing) and doesn't surprise you with hidden costs. Just pay for a single, lifetime licence and you'll receive every update I ever produce.
